The diary of a hip hop dancer: Part 2

14:00. By the time Stella and I made our daily tour around the park, it was 2 o'clock in the afternoon, so I was rushing to the dance studio. I got there just in time, so I didn't miss the beggining. Alex, our teacher and choreographer would kill me if I were late again. As you can see, being late is quite a characteristic of mine. So i put on my black tank top and brown baggy sweatpants, that i bought just a week ago in the Hip-hop shop in the centre of the city. I fell in love with them at first sight, because they have two thick black stripes on the sides and they're made of plush. They're also very comfortable, so I wear them at home sometimes.

14:20. When I came in the room where we had practise, the whole dance crew already sat there, on their usual places on the floor. I glanced to one of the mirrors on the wall and the sweatpants looked perfect. I sat on the floor by Stella and Natalie.
"Hey, Mia." They smiled and I nodded back. "Are we going to do the second part of the choreography today? Because Alex told me that he thought of some new moves for the dancers on the front four lines. I just hope it's not too complicated, like the rest of the choreography." I said to them. Natalie replied: "Obviously, the moves are gonna be hot, just like the rest of them. Although they're a bit difficult, yeah." We all agreed on that. This choreo is especially good, because it HAS to be good, we're going to the championships with it!
It was time to start and Alex came into the room. I could definitely feel the change of temperature in the atmosphere. The girls fluttered all over the room and quicly taken their positions. Almost half of the class has a crush on him. Alex is embodied hotness and everything a dumb-head girl like half of the class is, would want. I don't like him very much, because he is kind of self-centered and he's been in the studio for just a month, replacing our previous teacher, Gina. She got pregnant and had to go, just in time for the competitions... Just my luck, eh?
Now I'm stuck with an arogant male teacher and a bunch of girls, who's brain had shrunken to a size of a raisin. I still utterly adore dancing and hip hop music, but i hate when Alex gets all i-know-everything-you-know-nothing. It pisses me off. He doesn't have to treat me like a baby, I've trained all kinds of dance for 10 years. Started with ballet, continued with jazz, then contemporary and finally hip hop. He treats me like a complete amateur, although he's seen me doing a perfect padebore. I have become completely imune to his looks. I must admit he looks damn gorgeous and he's quite a proffesional when it comes to dancing. The girls mostly fall for his body and dark, curly hair. What I like the most are his brown, chocolate eyes...

14:30. "Stop fantasizing about me, pumpkin head. It's time to dance!" I heard the familliar deep voice as soon my look wandered away. Alex walked around me to the computer in the back of the room. I rolled my eyes and couldn't help but smile. He put on a song called Can we chill by Ne-Yo. We started the streching exercises. The room was full of girly giggling, as all the girls were staring at Alex's behind. How childish... Some of us come here to work, others come to fiest their eyes. I looked over to Natalie and Stella and they were thinking the same.
We streched our arms and legs, then did some exercises for strenght. After 30 push ups, Alex went to change the music. We picked a song by Rihanna called Don't stop the music for the nationals. Well, we didn't pick it, Alex did. He said that since our class has only girls, the song would be perfect to act al feminine. I teased him if he even knows how that looks like and the guy started walking around like the most obvious drag-queen in the world. I roared with laughter and so did the rest of the class. He's actually quite funny from time to time. The song banged from the speakers and i felt the familliar adrenaline, that I get listening to hip hop beats. Alex took his position at the front of the room, counted down to the start of the choreography and we danced.

17:00. I'm exhausted. We danced this whole time and Alex had no mercy. We did the new steps and the whole choreography through. I can't wait to go home now and have a shower.
I went to the dressing room and got dressed really slowly, since i didn't have any energy left. When i got to the door I saw Alex in front of the mirrors, dancing. He was dancing to Roc Boys by Jay-Z. His moves were quick and banging. I stood by the door and watched him. He really was one of the best. His legs were all over the place, moving so quickly, i hardly cought them with my eye, his steps were new and impressive. Suddenly he noticed me in the mirror and stopped. I said: "I am speechless. Bravo!" And started clapping. Alex smiled and nodded. "Some day, you'll dance just like me. Some day." I laughed at him and replied: "Don't be surprised if that day comes very soon, Alex... See you on monday." Then I turned round and headed to the entrance door. "Would you fancy a drink or something?" he said.
"Alex, I'm in desperate need of a shower. Thanks to you. We could do that some other time." As soon as I said those words, I realised they made no sense and that I actually wanted to go on a drink with him. Alex muttered OK and smiled. "I guess then I shouldn't make you work too hard for the nationals if you're so exhausted after practise." I made an offended expression and said, walking to the door: "Don't be silly, Alex. We'll see if I'm any less tired on monday." Right before I, having the last word, turned to the exit, I noticed a sparkle in his eyes and a dreamy smile i never saw before. Strangely, I went home with a sparkle in my eyes and a dreamy smile too.
